I was thinking a bit about creativity today, about how creativity makes us human. We are the only being that feels the need to create, to explore and to make something new. The belief from humanism is that human beings are higher even than angels. Angels can only follow gods command, but we as humans have a godly quality, creativity.
I am always amazed by the skills of my piers. For months now several of the YIPpies have been, on top of everything else, studying dance. One of the participants has been doing dance for years and has held dance classes every morning since September. She has choreographed and taught entire show to be preformed his weekend. I have been lucky enough to watch the last few run-throughs and I am amazed! The women may not have been dancers before but they are now.

The world is a garden and we as flowers create it together, intimately connected and supported by our differences. Our performance is a celebration of life and its diversity. Diversity is essential to life for it is in diversity that we find enormous potential for creativity.

As YIP participants we get the chance to go out of Sweden on international internship for the month of April, where we put some of our training into practice, and gain new skills and experiences that will benefit us in later life. For my internship I have arranged work with a program called India Volunteer Care in Pondicherry, India. The volunteers can participate in several projects in the area working with children in urban and rural orphanages and schools or with children with special needs. Through my work in India I hope to get a picture into the lives of these children and experience the beauty of a new culture.
During my internship I hope to work with a new initiative started by one of my peers, called Wise Eyes. The plan is to bring small digital cameras with us on our internships and ask the children we meet to take pictures of the beauty they find in the world around them. The idea is to lend the cameras to children who might not otherwise get the chance to express themselves artistically and encourage them to do so. Through this process we might get a chance to glimpse the world through the eyes of a child.
I believe that the most unique thing I received from my Waldorf education at City of Lakes was the opportunity and encouragement to express myself. This is a gift that I hold dearly and wish to carry with me on my travels to India and share with the children there.
Over the next two months I hope to fundraise $1000 for the project. All I need to meet this goal is 50 people contribute at least $20 to the project. If you wish to contribute please click on the donation button in the top right. Any donations are greatly appreciated as will as your interest and support.
Thank You!

I think to start with I should tell you a bit about the program I am participating in in Sweden, YIP.
The International Youth Initiative Program (YIP) is a new social entrepreneur training in Järna, Sweden, for youth aged 18 to 25 who want to create a positive social change in the world. – A course in how to bring your own initiative into being. (yip.se)
That statement says a lot but yip is so much more than that. What you don’t see on the website is the community. Community living is a rally important part of yip. The “yippies” a.k.a. yip participants of which there are 38 from 15 differnet countries, share two houses and everything in between. The yippies are like a family and I have no doubt that we will stay connected for life, supporting each other and each others projects from around the world.

I encourage it.
